Description

This course trains workers to understand the requirements of the Regulation, Act and CSA standards related to performing respirator fit tests on workers. 

You will learn:

  • Know how to use the OHS Regulation and the WC Act to access health and safety requirements;
  • Learn each component of the Respiratory Program based on CSA Z94.4-02 requirements;
  • Understand the basics sources of respiratory hazards;
  • Understand when a respirator is required and the type of respirator needed;
  • Know how to choose the appropriate equipment including filters and cartridges;
  • Perform fit tests on various types of respirators;
  • Perform seal checks before each use;
  • Care and maintenance of respirators;
  • Learn how to set up a documentation process for the program.

Course length:

The duration of the Train the Fit Tester course is 4 hours. Peak Occupational Safety Training offers an ideal learning environment with well-appointed facilities and clean and comfortable floors for the hands-on portions of the course. The facility is conveniently located near BCIT.

Prerequisites

This includes the understanding of roles and responsibilities, what is required in a respiratory program, and the basic sources of respiratory hazards.  We also will look at the different types of respirators, care, maintenance, storage as well as the difference between filters and cartridges. No previous training is required.
