According to a report from Engineers Canada, 75% of engineering and manufacturing roles in the country demand strong proficiency in blueprint reading, underscoring the importance of these skills in the Canadian workforce. Research from the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) indicates that nearly 85% of production errors stem from misinterpreted technical drawings, emphasizing the need for accuracy and expertise in this area. This program ensures that participants are fully prepared to reduce errors, improve productivity, and excel in their technical roles within Canada’s thriving industries. 

Course Outline

Introduction to Blueprints & Engineering Drawing Terminology 

Begin your journey into blueprint reading with a comprehensive introduction to the basics. This section covers the foundational concepts needed to interpret and understand technical drawings, including the structure and purpose of blueprints and the essential terminology used in engineering drawings. By mastering these basics, you’ll be well-prepared to navigate more complex aspects of blueprint reading.

Engineering Drawing Techniques

Delve deeper into the specifics of engineering drawings with a focus on understanding various drawing views, the significance of different line types, and the critical concepts of dimensions and tolerances. This section provides the detailed knowledge required to accurately interpret and apply the information found in technical drawings, ensuring precision in your work. 

Advanced Blueprint Interpretation

Take your blueprint reading skills to the next level by exploring advanced concepts such as geometric dimensions and tolerances, assemblies and fits, and the intricacies of threads and fasteners. This section is designed to equip you with the expertise needed to work with complex drawings and specifications, making it ideal for those involved in precision engineering and manufacturing.
