Discover the psychology behind giving and receiving feedback at work

Description

Feedback is such an important tool for performance, learning and trust. So why do we avoid feedback conversations? For most of us, giving or receiving feedback can feel uncomfortable, especially in tough situations.

 

In this session, we will explore the human psychology behind feedback – why we avoid it, why defensiveness shows up, and why good intentions don’t always lead to good outcomes. By the end of the session, both managers and employees will feel more confident and prepared to have productive feedback conversations that build trust and support learning.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand why giving and receiving feedback feels difficult from a psychological perspective
  • Recognize common emotional and cognitive barriers to effective feedback
  • Prepare for feedback conversations with greater confidence
  • Learn strategies to decrease defensiveness and improve the impact of feedback conversations
