As the province continues to roll out its Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan, contractors and their employees are being challenged to adjust to new safety protocols and a different way of managing their work crews and budgets to effectively comply with active Public Health Orders.

This Certificate in Essential Administration Skills will provide course participants with the knowledge and understanding to improve their computer skills with MS Excel, accounting processes as it relates to construction, and how to handle leaves and/or absences.  The information will allow participants to excel in the administration roles of the business to maintain and grow their success within the industry.  

This Certificate consists of the following 5 modules:

MS Excel Advanced 1: Functions, Forms, and Data – 1 Gold Seal Credit – 8 hours

The following list summarizes skills that participants will be comfortable with after this course.

  • Use advanced functions
  • Add protection to workbooks and worksheets
  • Create and modify PivotTables or PivotCharts
  • Create and run Macros
  • Add form controls

MS Excel Advanced 2: Database Management, and Analysis – 1 Gold Seal Credit – 8 hours

The following list summarizes skills that participants will be comfortable with after this course.

  • Create tables and learn to sort, filter and report on data with a few clicks
  • Add data validation, including using pick lists
  • Remove duplicate data, circle invalid data
  • Use data analysis tools
  • Import data with Power Query

HR Series: Managing Leaves, Absences, & Accommodations – 0 Gold Seal Credit – 2 hours

In this HR Series Webinar participants will learn:

  • The various leaves, absences, and sick time requirements in Canada.
  • The Duty to Accommodate process.
  • How to develop and implement best practices and policies consistent with human rights legislation.
  • How to assess each request for a leave or accommodation on its own merit.
  • How to document the process.

MS Excel for Business – 1 Gold Seal Credit – 8 hours

The following list highlights skills that participants will be comfortable with after this course:

  • Customize excel options and views
  • Create and manipulate tables
  • Filter, sort data and apply formulas
  • Use the correct syntax to insert functions
  • Summarize data, apply conditional logic, format and modify text with functions

Wednesday, May 19th from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm CST

Project Accounting & Cost Control – 2 Gold Seal Credit – 6 hours

At the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Understand various types of contracts.
  • Read financial statements: income statement, balance sheet, cashflow, job cost reports.
  • Forecast percentage of completion reports: projected income statements, job costing and cashflow.
  • Calculate aged accounts payable and receivables separate from holdback amounts.
  • Understand the normal close out processes and the reports expected for project budget vs. actual, deficiencies and warranties.
